2009 News
April was a busy month for Gay. She was honored by having two paintings selected in two different fine art shows and at the end of the month she was elected president of the In-Town Gallery. Gay enjoys helping the gallery strive toward continued success in challenging times. She is also the Hanging Chairperson so she gets to arrange the gallery every 6 months when the members all bring in new work. Her new work in the International Inspirations gallery was inspired by a volunteer trip to Peru in April and May. |
2008 News
After her first successful year as a full time member at the In-Town Gallery on Frazier Ave. in Chattanooga, Gay will be the featured artist for the month of September. She will be presenting her newest work titled "The Promise of Place". You can see these new selections in the Chattanooga section of the gallery. |
2007 News
Gay was chosen to paint an ornament representing the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park to be hung with 347 ornaments on the Christmas tree in the Blue Room at the White House which this year is honoring the National parks. She and her husband George attended a reception recognizing the artists on November 28, 2007. |
One of Gay’s pieces, Wheland Foundry #20, was selected in an art show in Augusta, Georgia at the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art and was displayed from September 14 – October 26, 2007. She won an honorable mention for the work.
Gay was one of two artists featured at AVA (Association
for Visual Artists) 30 Frazier Avenue, Chattanooga, from March
6-April 27, 2007.
Gay has recently been voted into permanent membership at the
In-Town Gallery, at 26 Frazier Avenue, Chattanooga, where her
work will be on display year round. |
Other News
Since graduating from the University
of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2003, Gay has had several gallery
showings and recently had public viewing exhibitions in the
lobby of the Raymond James investment firm in downtown Chattanooga
and Unity of Chattanooga in North Chattanooga.
The first gallery experience was at AVA on Frazier Avenue in
September of 2003. Gay was honored as an emerging artist and the
reception was well attended. |

The
second gallery showing was in the summer of 2005 at Gold Leaf Designs
on Broad Street. Gay was one of four artists featured in a show titled “Remembering
Chattanooga”.

Gay was on a radio show on 92.5 FM in July '05 that was promoting
the art gallery presentation.
On January 11, 2006 she was featured in the Hixson Community section
of Chattanooga’s Times Free Press newspaper.

Twenty
three of Gay's paintings were recently on view in the lobby area of
the Raymond James Investment firm on Broad Street in Chattanooga. Four
other works are on permanent display at Unity of Chattanooga in
North Chattanooga. |
